District administration sent 141 returnees from Bihar to quarantine centers

A special Doha repatriation flight carrying 146 Indians landed at Gaya International Airport on Monday as part of the Centre’s Vande Bharat mission.

Of the 146 who returned from the capital of Qatar, 141 are from Bihar and five are from neighboring Jharkhand, said Gaya airport manager Dilip Kumar.

The passports of all passengers were collected at the immigration counter by district officials and each received an acknowledgment of receipt and a “ Vande Bharat ” kit including disinfectants, soap, etc. he declared.

After completing all the formalities, the district administration has sent the 141 returnees from Bihar to quarantine centers here, where they are expected to remain isolated for the next 14 days, said Kumar.

Several hotels in Gaya have been converted to quarantine centers for this purpose, said a district official.

Five from Jharkhand left for their homes in a vehicle sent by the state, he said.

“None of those who returned from Doha today exhibited COVID-19 symptoms during a thermal check at the airport,” said the official.

Earlier, on May 24, a special plane carrying 132 Indians from Muscat had landed at Gaya Airport.

On May 18, a group of 41 London Indians had reached Gaya on a chartered plane.
