Mumbai:

Bollywood star Alia Bhatt said on Monday that if an opportunity arose, she would like to make a foray into digital media, preferably with a limited “investigative” show. Citing the example of Sushmita Sen Aarya, the actor said that the Web has opened a new way for artists to show their talent. “The actors not only in the West but also here are working directly on the OTT. This has created a huge opportunity for the actors to show their talent.” If someone offers me something to connect with, I would like to do a limited TV show type investigation. It would be very interesting, “she said at a virtual press conference, moderated by her frequent co-star Varun Dhawan.

Alia’s neighbor Sadak 2 is one of the films heading to direct digital output to Disney + Hotstar VIP, skipping cinemas following the uncertainty surrounding the reopening of movie theaters due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The film, due to be released in July, marks his first collaboration with Father Mahesh Bhatt, who returns to the director’s chair after two decades. Sadak 2 is a sequel to the director’s 1991 film, which also stars Mahesh Bhatt’s eldest daughter, Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt, as well as another newcomer, Aditya Roy Kapur.

Working on the film was a homecoming in its true sense, said Alia. “Let the whole family come and make a film together. This emotion is on a whole new level. I always wanted to be illustrated in a song from the Bhatt camp, famous for its music,” she added.

The original followed a taxi driver (Sanjay) trying to save the woman he loves (Pooja) from a brothel. He also introduced Sadashiv Amrapurkar as the iconic villain Maharani, owner of the brothel and actor Soni Razdan, Alia’s mother. According to the 27-year-old actor, the new film is the re-creation of the film of the same name in 1991.

“The story of Ravi (Sanjay) goes on. He meets these two new people (Alia-Aditya). The film has different love stories and also has (an element of) thrill. The bad guy is someone very different and totally unexpected, “Said Alia.

She also unveiled the first poster for the film, produced by Vishesh Films and Fox Star Studios, which showed Mount Kailash at the end of a long road. Reading a message from her father, Alia said the sequel will take viewers to “the mother of all love pilgrimages.” Mount Kailash, the ageless mountain, has the imprints of gods and sages. It is the home of the god of all gods, Lord Shiva. Do we really need anything else or actors in this sacred space? Since the dawn of time, humanity has found refuge in Kailash. It is a place where all research ends. Sadak 2 is the road to love, “she said.

When asked how she spent her quarantine time, Alia replied that she was taking guitar lessons and doing meditation. Laxxmi Bomb, Bhuj, Dil Bechara, The Big Bull, Lootcase and Khuda Haafiz are other titles that will be released on Disney + Hotstar between July and October.

Producer Mukesh Bhatt, Alia’s uncle who supported the film, told PTI on Sunday that Sadak 2 will head to a digital output. “I have to come (on the digital platform) because I don’t see any light in the near future. It’s the best I can do to survive. There are certain things you do, not by choice but out of compulsion. It’s the only option left. It’s a no-brainer, “said Mukesh Bhatt.
