Hathras rape case: A family member exhibited symptoms of Covid, he said.

A team of medical experts who visited the family of a 20-year-old woman who was allegedly gang-raped and murdered in Hathras, Uttar Pradesh, was not allowed to take the medical examination. a family member who reportedly exhibited symptoms related to Covid, a doctor who was part of the team said. All family members refused to submit to Covid testing, he added.

The team had visited family in Hathras after receiving a complaint that the family member had symptoms of COVID-19, including a cough and fever, he said.

“We had received reports that the family member had a fever and was coughing. As they receive many visitors, we decided to visit them and take their Covid tests, but the family refused,” added the manager.

Large numbers of police, journalists and political leaders who visited Hathras have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Many politicians, including Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, visited the family of the 20-year-old woman in her village in the Bulgarhi region after the alleged gang rape and murder case came to light .

The Dalit woman, who was allegedly gang-raped and brutally assaulted on September 14, died of her injuries two weeks later in a Delhi hospital.

The handling of the incident by the Uttar Pradesh police – which included a late night funeral allegedly without family consent – has sparked a huge political storm.

The state government has previously recommended a CBI investigation into the matter and citing reports from the forensic science lab, has denied the rape charges.
