Families of deceased Covid cops can remain in government quarters, the minister said. (Representative)

Mumbai:

Families of police officers who died while fighting COVID-19 may remain in government housing until the retirement of the staff member, the Minister of Justice announced Friday Interior of Maharashtra, Anil Deshmukh.

The minister informed that 51 police officers have lost their lives to COVID-19 since its appearance in the state in March.

Deshmukh praised security personnel for working “day by day” to contain the spread of the disease.

The state government has already made the decision to grant 65 lakh rupees to families of cops who died from COVID-19.
