Arvind Kejriwal also said that home-isolated COVID-19 patients received pulse oximeters

New Delhi:

Prime Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal said today his government will install large-scale intensive care beds in three public hospitals following the growing number of COVID-19 cases in the nation’s capital.

Addressing an online media availability, he said Delhi had reported around 74,000 cases to date; among them, 45,000 patients have recovered.

The increase in the number of cases is worrying, but there is no need to panic because the situation of COVID-19 is “still under control”, said Mr. Kejriwal.

“We have tripled our testing capacity and, as a result, cases are increasing in the city,” he said.

At LNJP Hospital, Rajiv Gandhi Super Specialty Hospital and GTB Hospital, government will install more large-scale intensive care beds, he said, adding that the Delhi government has already installed 3,500 beds for COVID-19 patients in hotels in the past 10 days.

The Chief Minister also said that COVID-19 patients in home segregation have received pulse oximeters and that this will act as a “Suraksha Chakra” against the disease.

He said the government had obtained permission to conduct plasma therapy on 200 patients in the city.
