New Delhi:
Prime Minister Narendra Modi called today not to let ideology get in the way of national interest during his speech at Jawaharlal Nehru University after unveiling a statue of Swami Vivekananda on the South Delhi campus .
“Everyone is proud of their ideology and it is natural. But our ideology should be seen as being on the side of the nation and not against it for matters of national interest,” Prime Minister Modi said in a speech video.
He spoke about the struggle for independence and the struggle against the emergency to highlight how people with different ideological ideas came together for the “national interest”, but without compromising their ideologies.
“When the question is about national integrity and interest, making a decision under the burden of one’s ideology harms the nation,” Prime Minister Modi said. “It is wrong to believe that one will think and act within a certain framework on matters of national interest only because that is what his ideology says,” he said.

Student parties backed by the left have always been strong within the JNU. Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s student wing ABVP also tried to gain influence in the student body of JNU.
Small fights between groups of students have been reported from time to time on campus, but the most serious incident occurred in January this year when masked morons, armed with sticks and stones, broke in. on campus and beat up students and teachers, causing chaos and terror.
Left-backed JNU Student Union President Aishe Ghosh was injured in the attack. The ABVP had also said that its members had been brutally attacked by those affiliated with left-wing student organizations such as the Federation of Students of India, the Student Association of India and the Federation of Democratic Students.
“Swami Vivekananda wanted education in the country to be such that it gives individuals self-confidence and makes them atmanirbhar (autonomous) in every way. The new national education policy goes in the same direction and has inclusion at the heart, ”Prime Minister Modi said today.
