Washington:

As protesters gathered outside the White House Friday night in Washington DC, US President Donald Trump was briefly taken to the White House underground bunker, the New York Times reported quoting a person with first-hand knowledge of the incident.

Trump had been there for less than an hour before being brought upstairs. Friday, after hundreds of people rushed to the White House, the secret services and the police officers of the American parks police sought to block them.

The Trump team was surprised by the protests that took place Friday night outside the White House, according to the American daily. It is not clear, however, whether Melania Trump and Barron Trump were also shot with him.

On Sunday, as many as 40 cities and Washington D.C. across the United States imposed curfews in response to continuing protests over the death of African-American man George Floyd in police custody.

According to CNN, 40 cities have imposed curfews and about 5,000.

National Guard members were activated in 15 states and in Washington, DC, and another 2,000 were prepared for activation if necessary.

Protesters across the United States have been demonstrating since May 25, when George Floyd, a 46-year-old African American, died in police custody in the city of Minneapolis.
