“The UK has announced today that it will not use it,” said Donald Trump.

Washington:

The United States has been exposed to “unreliable” Chinese technology and has convinced many countries not to use equipment produced by Huawei due to its high security risk, President Donald Trump said on Tuesday.

“We have faced trusted Chinese technology and telecommunications providers. We have convinced many countries not to use Huawei because it is a big security risk. Even today, the UK announced that “He was not going to use it,” Trump said in an interview with reporters.

The U.S. has identified Chinese telecom companies Huawei and ZTE Corp as threats to national security, saying it has close ties to the Chinese Communist Party and the Chinese military.

The UK announced on Tuesday that it will ban British companies from purchasing Huawei-produced equipment for 5G networks from the end of the year.

Earlier in the day, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the UK is joining democracies such as the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Romania and Sweden by banning Huawei from the future 5G network.

He said countries must be able to believe that 5G equipment and software will not threaten national security, economic security, privacy, intellectual property or human rights.
