Nagpur:

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday demanded the revocation of the transfer of a police officer who told him about the lack of personal protection kits during the coronavirus epidemic.

A video that went viral on social media showed the policeman talking to Mr. Fadnavis at the Washim checkpoint on May 17 and complaining about the lack of protective equipment, masks, disinfectants, etc., and saying also to the former chief minister that things would have been better if he was still in charge.

In a letter to CM Uddhav Thackeray, the head of the BJP said that the police officer was only listing the shortcomings for the benefit of his colleagues.

He added that 2,300 state police officers were infected with the new coronavirus while on duty.

“I met him on May 17 and the police chief transferred him on May 28 to Dhanaj remote from Kinhiraja. It is an injustice and the transfer should be revoked,” said Mr. Fadnavis.
