Mumbai:
BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis met with Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray on Saturday and discussed the situation in the aftermath of Hurricane “ Nisarga ”.
Devendra Fadnavis, who recently visited the affected districts of Raigad and Ratnagiri, told reporters that no aid had reached the population.
“The electricity supply has not yet been restored (in the villages) and drinking water is also not available for those affected,” said the former prime minister.
He sought help from the state government to repair the fishing boats.
“The fishermen’s loan should be canceled because they were the most affected by the coronaviruses and the cyclone,” said the leader of the opposition.
The cyclone, which hit land in the Raigad district on June 3, caused massive destruction in parts of Raigad and Ratnagiri.
President of the State Congress and Minister of Finance, Balasaheb Thorat, also visited Alibaug, in the Raigad district, to take stock of the damage caused by the cyclone.
He ordered officials to promptly distribute relief supplies to affected people whose farms and homes had suffered significant damage.
