New Delhi:

A 25-year-old man was reportedly stabbed to death by a youth and his two friends after the victim warned them not to perform bicycle stunts in Raghubir Nagar, west Delhi, police said on Monday.

The victim was identified as Manish, a resident of Raghubir Nagar. He worked as a private car driver, they said.

The three people involved in the massacre are minors (aged 17), police said, adding that they had been arrested in connection with the incident. The incident took place on July 8, they said.

“The incident was entirely captured by video surveillance cameras. In one sequence, the main accused and his friends were seen stabbing the victim several times on the busy streets of Raghubir Nagar. Even while the one of his friends was trying to take him away, he rushed to stab the man again, “said a police official. Deputy Police Commissioner (West) Deepak Purohit said that a murder case had been registered at the Khyala Police Station.

Using video surveillance footage and local intelligence, the three miners who were on the run were identified and subsequently arrested. The weapon used in the offense was also recovered, the police said.

“On July 8, we received information from the DDU hospital regarding the admission of an unknown person who had been declared dead. Our staff arrived at the hospital and found that the man suffered multiple injuries from stabbing. Later he was identified as Manish, “said the official.

The victim was stabbed 28 times, including serious injuries to the chest, torso and other minor injuries to the arms and legs, he said.

During the investigation, it was revealed that the main accused had engaged in bicycle racing and stunts. He rode a bicycle at high speed and often crossed the streets of Raghubir Nagar, where the victim lived.

The victim objected to bicycle stunts and racing. He also warned the minor against going up the streets of Raghubir Nagar again, the DCP said.

The miner, however, crossed the same street again, after which the duo quarreled, he said.

In order to teach the victim a lesson, the miner organized two knives and on July 8, when he found Manish wandering the streets alone, he and his two friends attacked the man, the official added.
