Rewa:
On Friday, the mortal remains of Naik Deepak Singh, killed in eastern Ladakh in clashes with Chinese soldiers, were honestly burned to the flames in his village in Madhya Pradesh.
His older brother lit the pyre during the last rites in the village of Faranda in the Rewa district amid chants of “Vive Deepak Singh”.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP President of State, V D Sharma, supported the coffin of the martyred soldier after his arrival in the village.
Mr. Chouhan also met with Singh’s family members and assured them of all the support of the Madhya Pradesh government.
Former Minister of State Rajendra Shukla was also present on this occasion.
Paying a rich tribute to the martyred soldiers, Mr. Chouhan called on the people to boycott Chinese products and buy indigenous products to weaken the neighboring country economically.
The state government will pay Rs a crore to Singh’s family members as well as a pucca house, and his wife will be given a job in government, Chouhan said.
A road will be named for the martyred soldier and his statue will be installed in the village, he said.
“We are all proud to have had a valiant soldier like Deepak Singh in Madhya Pradesh, from this village. I express my sincere gratitude to his parents for having given birth to such a courageous man,” said the Minister in chief.
He salutes the sacrifice of Deepak Singh who gave his life for the nation with happiness, he added.
Deepak Singh, who joined the military in 2013 and was posted to the Galwan Valley in Ladakh with the Bihar regiment, only got married last year.
His father Gajraj Singh is a farmer, while his older brother Prakash Singh is also a gunsmith and is posted to Jaisalmer.
“I will come and take my leave after the lockout is over,” Deepak told his grandmother during their last conversation.
