The number of active cases of coronavirus infection in the country fell below 6 lakh for the first time in nearly three months and represents only 7.35% of total cases, the ministry said today. Union Health, claiming India has taken important milestone in COVID-19 fight[FEMALE[FEMININE

There are 5,94,386 active cases of coronavirus infection in the country to date. The active workload was 5.95 lakh on August 6th.

“Currently, active cases only represent 7.35 percent of the country’s total positive cases, or 5.94,386. This has reinforced its trend of a steady decline, ”the ministry said.

The trajectory of the active workload in the different states and territories of the Union has been diversified, indicating their efforts and gradual progress in their fight against the global pandemic.

India also maintained its high number of recoveries, with 73,73,375 people recovering.

“India continues to be the first country with the maximum number of recovered cases in the world. The difference between active and recovered cases is steadily increasing and stands at 6,778,989 as of date,” said the ministry.

A total of 57,386 patients recovered and were discharged within 24 hours, while 48,648 new infections were reported during the same period, according to data updated at 8 a.m.

The national recovery rate rose to 91.15%.

The ministry said 80 percent of the new cases recovered would be concentrated in 10 states and UTs.

Kerala contributed the maximum with over 8,000 recoveries in a single day, followed by Maharashtra and Karnataka with over 7,000 recoveries each.

Additionally, 78% of the 48,648 new cases of COVID-19 recorded in 24 hours are from 10 states and UTs. Kerala is still reporting a huge number of new cases with more than 7,000 cases followed by Maharashtra and Delhi with more than 5,000 cases each, the ministry said.

In addition, 563 cases of death were reported within 24 hours. Of these, 81% are concentrated in ten states and UTs.

Maharashtra reported the highest deaths in a single day (156 deaths), followed by West Bengal with 61 cases.

India has performed well in responding to WHO recommendations for 140 tests / day / million population.

In its Guidance Note on Public Health Criteria for Adjusting Public Health and Social Measures in the Context of COVID-19, WHO advised this strategy for comprehensive surveillance of suspected cases.

“In another round of achievements, 35 states and UTs have exceeded the recommended number of tests. The national average of tests per day per million population is 844. The figure for Delhi and Kerala has passed 3000,” the ministry said.

The number of COVID-19 cases in India rose to 80.88,851 with 48,648 new coronavirus infections reported in one day, while the death toll climbed to 121,090 with 563 new deaths, according to data updated to 8 hours of the morning.
