The recovery rate from the coronavirus in the country has reached a record high of more than 70,000 patients discharged in a single day, the Union’s Ministry of Health and Family said on Sunday.

“Five states contributed 60% of the total recoveries. Maharashtra contributed to the peak recoveries amounting to almost 21%, followed by Tamil Nadu with 12.63%, Andhra Pradesh with 11.91%, Karnataka with 8.82% and Uttar Pradesh with 6.14 percent, ”he added.

The Ministry of Health further said that India had recorded more than 22.6 lakh recoveries than the active cases which stood at 846,395.

“Active cases currently only represent 21.04% of the total positive cases. Over 75% of the total cases have recovered, ”he said.

India recorded the highest single-day jump of 86,432 new coronavirus cases on Saturday, pushing the national case count to over 40 lakh, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.

With 1,089 additional deaths, the cumulative toll has reached 69,561.

The total number of cases amounts to 40,23,179 including 8,46,395 active cases, 31,07,223 cases cured / released / migrated.
