Coronavirus infection curve finally shows signs of flattening in Brazil (Performance)

Rio de Janeiro, Brazil:

Brazil passed the dark milestone of a million cases of coronavirus on Friday as the number of infections and deaths continues to rise in the largest country in Latin America.

The health department said it had a one-day record of 54,771 new infections – largely due to the “instability” of its notification system during the week, which meant that some states reported figures of several days at a time.

This brought the total number of infections in Brazil to 1,032,913, with 48,954 deaths – second only to the United States in the world.

Experts in the country test of 212 million people mean that the real numbers are probably much higher, although the infection curve is finally showing signs of flattening.
