Delhi Governor Anil Baijal on Sunday ordered authorities to continue to take strict measures in containment areas to stop the spread of COVID-19 in the nation’s capital.
Mr. Baijal held a meeting with Chief Secretary Vijay Dev and other senior officials from the Delhi government and municipal companies to review the measures taken to strengthen medical infrastructure in the city taking into account various scenarios
“Strict enforcement measures in containment areas must be continued in accordance with guidelines from the Indian government (Indian government) to prevent the spread of COVID-19,” Baijal tweeted after the meeting.
Last month, he ordered all magistrates in the district to implement a “micro-containment zone strategy” in their respective areas to stem the spread of the virus. As part of this plan, small clusters reporting cases of infection are identified and declared containment areas, rather than large ones.
New cases of COVID-19 in the country have stood at more than 1,000 in the past four days, bringing the total to almost 20,000.
The city recorded its highest peak in a day on Sunday, with 1,295 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the number to 19,844, while the number of deaths from the disease rose to 473, according to authorities.
