Pradyumna Singh Lodhi has resigned as a member of the Assembly.

Bhopal:

In another coup to Congress, a party deputy in Madhya Pradesh joined the BJP, before the National Assembly passed 24 seats. Pradyumna Singh Lodhi, the first legislator at the seat of Bada Malahra, resigned from his post as member of the Assembly after meeting with Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Uma Bharti.

Sources say about six other Congressmen from the Bundelkhand region could join the BJP in the coming days.

“Shri Pradyumna Singh Lodhi resigned on Saturday. I told him to think it over and not to make a hasty decision. Today he met me again and asked to accept his resignation, we have so accepted the same thing, “said Madhya Pradesh Assembly President Rameshwar Sharma. said.

Mr. Lodhi, who ended the BJP’s 20-game winning streak from his seat by defeating then Minister of State Lalita Yadav in 2018, is seen in photos exchanging candy Mr. Chouhan and the President of the State of the BJP, VD Sharma.

His resignation is crucial because the district is dominated by the Lodhi caste, which is part of the list of other backward classes. He could get a ministerial post in the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government.

Uma Bharti, former chief minister of Madhya Pradesh and national vice-president of the BJP, was reportedly upset because no member of the caste group was included in the expansion of Mr. Chouhan’s cabinet earlier this month.

Congress-led government collapsed in March after party leader Jyotiraditya Scindia and 22 MPs loyal to him resigned after fighting with the old guard, including the chief minister of the era, Kamal Nath.

If more resignations arrive, the effective force of the party in the Madhya Pradesh assembly will be exhausted further. It currently has 91 deputies in the house of 230 people, whose current staff is 206. The BJP has 107 deputies and the support of four independents.

Both parties have the opportunity to reconstitute their numbers with a victory in the next by-elections.

Congress is also in trouble in Rajasthan, while deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot, upset by a notice of inquiry, is in talks with the BJP, sources said.
