New Delhi:

Congress called “shocking” and “unacceptable” the death of an Indian army officer and two soldiers in a violent confrontation with Chinese troops, and asked Defense Minister Rajnath Singh to confirm that evolution.

“Shocking, incredible and unacceptable! Will the Raksha Mantri confirm this,” Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said on Twitter.

An Indian army officer and two soldiers were killed Monday night in the Galwan Valley in eastern Ladakh during a violent confrontation with Chinese troops, the army said.

They said senior military officials from both sides were holding a meeting in the Galwan Valley to defuse the tensions.

Large numbers of Indian and Chinese soldiers have entered a dead end in the Galwan Valley in Ladakh in the past five weeks.
