The BJP only cares about its own autonomy, said Kapil Sibal (File)

New Delhi:

On Friday, Congress accused the BJP of spreading the “virus” of the attractions of Indian politics with its enormous monetary power amid reports by congressmen from Gujarat resigning before the Rajya Sabha elections.

Congress chief Kapil Sibal said the BJP’s slogan of being independent was not for the country but for itself because it became a wealthy party after demonetization.

He said the BJP was spreading the “lawmakers’ lure virus” in various states across the country.

“It is a virus that is present in the DNA of the BJP. It spreads all over the world by attracting MPs everywhere. But people understand it now,” he told reporters when asked. asked if his deputies changed sides before the Rajya Sabha elections.

“It is about self-sufficiency of the BJP with the help of the power of money,” said Sibal.

The former union minister said that the BJP speech on autonomy is only for the party and that means that whoever has money can buy members of parliament. “It has nothing to do with India’s self-sufficiency; they are concerned only with their own self-sufficiency,” said the head of Congress.

In another jolt in Congress before the June 19 elections in Rajya Sabha in Gujarat, his deputy Brijesh Merja resigned from members of the Assembly on Friday, becoming the third opposition lawmaker to resign this week.

President Rajendra Trivedi has accepted the resignation of Mr. Merja, elected to the seat of Morbi.

Asked why his legislators were attracted to the BJP, Mr. Sibal said that such things happen in politics. “It is a weakness in politics, because some people enter politics with their personal advantages in mind. These people are attracted to such attractions,” he noted.
