New Delhi:

More than 6,500,000 Indians stranded abroad due to a coronavirus pandemic have been evacuated, said Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Monday.

Speaking to Twitter, Puri said the government is doing everything it can to facilitate the evacuation of stranded citizens abroad and those who wish to fly.

He said more than 80,000 people have also fled since the start of the pandemic.

“The government is making every effort to facilitate the evacuation of our stranded citizens abroad and those who wish to fly. We have already brought back more than 650,000 citizens by various means and we have stolen more than 80,000. VBM plays a key role in this endeavor, “said Mr. Puri.

“The situation in the world is constantly changing, as are the operations of international civil aviation. The VBM increases from time to time. We are trying to bring back all the Indians or to drive out those who wish to. I ask for your understanding and your patience. We will cover each of you, “he added.

The Vande Bharat mission is being led by the Indian government to evacuate Indians stranded abroad due to a coronavirus pandemic.

The first phase of the mission began on May 7.
