US officials “have lost their minds and have gone mad” in their relations with Beijing, the Chinese Foreign Ministry announced on Friday in the latest verbal salvo between the two superpowers.
Tensions between Washington and Beijing are high this year and some of China’s most vocal critics of the United States Congress were hit this week with sanctions, days after the United States imposed visa bans and freezes. holdings of several Chinese officials.

Hua added that China did not intend to challenge or replace the United States and said it hoped that Washington could “return to rationality” in its Chinese policy.
“A sparrow cannot understand the ambition of a swan,” she said.
“This is a serious error in judgment and a misunderstanding of China’s strategic intention.”
