The Statue of Unity campus spans 23 acres of land

New Delhi:

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) on Tuesday deployed its 350th unit to the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat. CISF has taken over the security of the Statue of Unity and will guard it 24 hours a day with an initial staff of 272.

“This unit is headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Commander. With this induction, the total number of CISF security guards has increased to 350 to date,” said the CISF.

Due to the importance and prominence of the Unity Statue, it is under constant threat from anti-social elements as it is likely to damage the sculpture through terrorist activities. The CISF will provide 24-hour armed security blanket to the Statue of Unity, the CISF said.

The Statue of Unity is a testament to the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Indian Prime Minister of the Interior and model of unity and political sense.

Reflecting the political stature of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, it is the tallest statue in the world with a height of 182 meters (597 feet) and is located in front of the Sardar Sarovar Dam.

The statue stands on Sadhu-Bet Island in the Narmada River in Kevadia, Gujarat, with the majestic Vindhyachal and Satpura mountain ranges as a backdrop. The Statue of Unity campus spans 23 acres of land with 7 operational gates and an emergency exit door.
