Bulbbul and Laila Majnu the star Avinash Tiwary does not understand the story “we against them” because the actor thinks that it is the public who decides who will become an insider of the industry or who will remain outside of it. With the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, the “alien versus insider” debate erupted again in Bollywood, with some criticizing the existing power structures in the industry. Avinash Tiwary said that despite an early opportunity, insiders have yet to prove their talent.
“It’s the audience who decides who they want to watch. There is more than one lakh in the acting profession, and only a hundred are so-called insiders. I do not understand this story “we against them” because there are opportunities for everyone. We all have the opportunity to go do our work, “the actor told PTI in an interview.
“What happens is that when the public appreciates our work, we become one of the insiders and stars. Hopefully, if I have children, I will be able to provide for them if they want to become actors, which all insiders have – an early opportunity, “he added.
Avinash Tiwary, who left his engineering degree to join Barry John’s acting studio and then went to the New York Film Academy, has become one of the promising talents in the industry. The 34-year-old actor worked with Amitabh Bachchan on the 2014 TV series Yudh. He made his cinema debut with the overall film Tu Hai Mera Sunday and got his first lead role in Laila Majnu. The 2018 film, produced by Imtiaz Ali and directed by his brother Sajid Ali, did not do well at the box office despite good reviews.
“As a foreigner, I had a film and I was told it was good. It didn’t last a week in theaters. If people had seen the film, I would have become an insider. Privilege or not, we all have to work hard and persevere, “he said.
Avinash Tiwary found his Laila Majnu co-star Tripti Dimri for Bulbbul, another fable film that turns the legend of the witch upside down through a story about the adulthood of a Bengali bride. Avinash and Tripti were congratulated for their performances in the film Netflix, produced by Anushka Sharma’s Clean Slate Filmz.
Bulbbul, directed by lyricist and dialogue writer Anvita Dutt, is a special film, said the actor, who cannot be linked to any particular genre. Avinash said the film explores a love story and a family drama in the supernatural space.
“It’s a flexible film (which is) unique for our country. Few films are made like that, maybe Tumbaad. It is difficult to place it in a genre because it is also a love story and a family drama taking place in a period space. It also has pieces of fantasy and horror, “he said.
Avinash plays Satya in Dimb’s Bulbbul, who is surprised to see the transformation of her childhood friend and her sister-in-law – from an innocent woman to the matriarch of the “ haveli ” after being abandoned by her husband (Rahul Bose).
The actor said it was fascinating to play a person who is in an indefinite relationship. “I found that there was a certain innocence and naivety in him about what was going on. He is not a guy who makes quick judgments. I also found that Satya was a bit stupid and I was like “why can’t he see it.” have the idea of the relationship and still don’t understand what it is. We face it in real life too. There was beauty in so subtle layers. It was only something you could explore while doing it, “he said.
Avinash Tiwary will then be seen in the Hindi version of The girl on the train with Parineeti Chopra.
