Bengaluru:
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa said on Wednesday he was traveling to New Delhi to discuss with the BJP the expansion of central leadership or the reshuffle of his cabinet.
“I am going to Delhi today. I will discuss with Naddaji (national chairman of BJP JP Nadda) and other senior leaders about expanding the cabinet and coming back,” BS Yediyurappa told reporters before leaving for the capital. national.
Responding to whether this would be an expansion or a cabinet reshuffle, he said: “We will find out once I get to Delhi”.
According to the Chief Minister’s tentative tour schedule, BS Yediyurappa is also expected to have meetings with various Union ministers before leaving for Bangalore at 8:30 p.m. on a special flight.
Political activity has intensified within the ruling BJP camp in the state since Yediyurappa announced the cabinet expansion following the party’s Nov. 10 victory in bypolls.
The chief minister had said he would travel to New Delhi soon to discuss with the central party leadership and get their approval, as he hinted at a reshuffle by dropping or inducting some ministers.
Expanding or reshuffling the cabinet should be a tightrope walk for Yediyurappa, given that there are too many aspirants.
While several of the former guards like eight-time MP Umesh Katti wait for a chance to be inducted into the ministry, Congress-JD (S) rebels like AH Vishwanath, R Shankar and MTB Nagaraj, who helped the BJP come to power and are now part MLC, also aspire to slot machines.
According to the deal, BS Yediyurappa should also keep space for Munirathna after his victory from Rajarajeshwari
Nagar seat in the bypoll, also for Pratap Gowda Patil who has to win the Maski bypoll which has not yet been announced.
The cabinet currently has 27 members and seven positions are still vacant.
