London:
British police suspended an officer on Friday after a video showing a man in north London detained using techniques “not taught in police training” was released.
Images posted on social networks showed the man detained on the ground shouting, “Let go of me.”
Steve House, deputy force commissioner, called the images “extremely disturbing”.
“Some of the techniques used are of great concern to me – they are not taught as part of police training,” he said in a statement.
“One officer has been suspended and another has been removed from operational duties, but he has not been suspended yet. This decision will be kept under review,” he added.
Officers were called to fight on Thursday and arrested a man on the scene suspected of fighting and possessing an offensive weapon, the force said.
The arrest evoked that of George Floyd, whose death at the hands of the American police in May started demonstrations in the whole world of Black Lives Matter.
