Monday’s episode of Bigg Boss 14 came as a nasty surprise to fans of Punjabi music artist Sara Gurpal, who was kicked out in the show’s first round of elimination. After holding the nomination duties, the list of nominated candidates included Sara Gurpal, Jaan Kumar Sanu, Eijaz Khan, Abhinav Shukla, Shehzad Deol, Nishant Singh Malkhani and Rahul Vaidya. But Bigg Boss introduced a twist and asked the ‘seniors’ of the house – former Great leader candidates Siddharth Shukla, Hina Khan and Gauahar Khan – to choose a candidate for expulsion. After much deliberation, they focused on Sara Gurpal, who then burst into tears.
The day after her expulsion, Sara Gurpal was in fashion on Twitter because the Seniors’ decision was not very well received by Internet users. Sara Gurpal fans have described the sudden elimination as “unfair” and “unethical”, citing that she has always been an active performer of tasks and in no way less deserving of the remaining candidates. “We’re with Sara Gurpal,” one tweet said while another added, “Sara Gurpal didn’t deserve this. Worst decision ever to take Sara Gurpal out.” Another user wrote: “Innocence is no longer respected, people like bullies pushing, screaming, screaming. This is the worst possible eviction, the most unfair.”
Several viewers also tagged the show and demanded that Sara Gurpal be brought back as a wild card contestant: “We want Sara Gurpal back on the show.” Netizens also criticized Siddharth for suggesting Sara’s name for deportation while Hina and Gauahar were called out for giving in to Siddharth. In Monday’s episode, Gauahar proposed Rahul Vaidya’s name for deportation, but Siddharth insisted that Sara go. Hina and Gauahar accepted Siddharth’s decision, claiming that next time he will have to listen to them.
