On Friday, choreographer Saroj Khan died of cardiac arrest in a Mumbai hospital; she was 71 years old. Ms. Khan was taken to Guru Nanak Hospital on June 20 after complaining of breathing problems. A test for COVID-19 gave a negative result. “She died due to a cardiac arrest around 2:30 am in the hospital,” Saroj Khan’s nephew Manish Jagwani told PTI news agency. Just a few days ago, family sources said that Ms. Khan was getting better and that she would be fired soon. The funeral will take place today, according to the ANI news agency.
Tributes to Saroj Khan were shared by the film fraternity after his death. “It made dancing easier,” Akshay Kumar tweeted.

Last week, it looked like Saroj Khan would soon be back from the hospital. “She is fine now and is recovering. She had breathing problems and was taken to hospital for this. Her COVID-19 test was done, which turned out to be negative. She has no symptoms. Two” , a family source told PTI. Filmmakers Anubhav Sinha and Kunal Kohli also shared tweets with updates on Ms. Khan’s health after talking to the family.
After Saroj Khan’s death, Kunal Kohli tweeted about the woman he called “Masterji”.

Saroj Khan, winner of three national awards, has choreographed some of Bollywood’s most iconic dance hits – many of these star actresses Sridevi and Madhuri Dixit. Ms. Khan’s first routines were for Sridevi in movies like Mr. India, Nagina and Chandni; she choreographed the original movements Hawaii hawai. Later, she worked with Madhuri Dixit on Tezaab ‘s Ek do teen, Thaanedaar »s Tamma Tamma Lodge, Beta’s Dha Dhak Karne Laga and other numbers.
Saroj Khan won national awards for choreography Dola Re Dola of Devdas with Madhuri and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, all songs from the Tamil film Sringaram, and Yeh Ishq Haaye from Kareena Kapoor’s Jab We Met. She also won Filmfare Awards for Tezaab, Sailaab, Beta, Chaalbaaz, Khalnayak, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas and Guru.
Saroj Khan is survived by her husband Sohanlal, son Raju and daughters Hina and Sukanya.
