New Delhi:

BJP MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar said on Friday he gave Rs 2.5 lakh to parents of young lad in Ladakh after video clip of him giving ‘crispy hi’ to Indo border police personnel -Tibetan (ITBP) posted in the area went viral.

Namgyal’s video clip greeting a team of ITBP staff was widely distributed online. It was tweeted by the Border Patrol Force from its official grip on October 11.

“Namgyal had won the love and respect of an entire nation when a video of him giving a crisp salute to ITBP staff passing through Shushul in Ladakh appeared,” Chandrasekhar’s office said in a statement.

“Namgyal’s patriotic spirit encouraged many people to appeal to help young Ladakh achieve his dreams. I contributed Rs 2.5 lakh for him through the Flags of Honor Foundation and a check for the same amount was issued in his father’s name ”. the BJP MP said in the statement.

Since its inception in 2009, the Flags of Honor Foundation has supported and championed the cause of the armed forces, the men and women who serve and the veterans who have made enormous sacrifices for the nation, the statement said.

As part of that effort, Mr Chandrasekhar has sought to contact Namgyal’s parents to ensure that he shines and one day inspires others to stand up for the homeland, he said.
