The Law Enforcement Directorate (DE) today arrested Bineesh Kodiyeri, the son of Kerala leader CPI (M) Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, in a money laundering case related to the drug seizure, said official sources.
They said Bineesh Kodiyeri was arrested under relevant sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) and that the agency wanted to subject him to custody for “funding a drug ring. “.
The agency then took him to a local court which allegedly sent him into custody for four days, they added.
Sources told the Press Trust of India news agency that the central investigative agency questioned Bineesh Kodiyeri three times about his alleged links to an accused, Mr. Anoop, who was arrested some time ago in a seizure case. narcotics.
Prior to his arrest, Bineesh Kodiyeri was grilled by the Law Enforcement Directorate at his zonal office in Shanthinagar region here after his appearance around 11 a.m. today.
The ED investigation stems from a case being investigated by the Narcotics Control Bureau which claimed to have ended a drug trafficking racketeering with ecstasy pills in Karnataka in August.
BCN arrested Mr. Anoop, Anikha D, R Ravindran and said they seized 145 ecstasy or MDMA tablets and over Rs 2.20 lakh in cash from a hotel apartment here this time.
The Federal Anti-Narcotics Agency also said that some “leading musicians and actors” in Karnataka are under his scanner after the operation.
They are accused of supplying drugs to film actors and singers in Kannada.

According to the PTI news agency, sources alleged that Bineesh Kodiyeri had ties to Mr. Anoop and that the two had phone conversations.
Bineesh Kodiyeri’s role has also come under scrutiny in connection with his alleged links between a key defendant in the Kerala gold smuggling case and a main defendant in the Bengaluru drug seizure case.
Previously, the youth wing of the Muslim League of Indian Union (IUML) alleged that Bineesh Kodiyeri had close ties to some members of a drug racket recently arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau in Bengaluru.
Youth League secretary general PK Firos alleged that Bineesh Kodiyeri had invested money in a hotel business launched by Mr. Anoop in Kammanahalli in 2015 and demanded a full investigation into it.
Bineesh Kodiyeri claimed that he knew Mr. Anoop and his family and that Mr. Anoop borrowed money from him and a few others to start a catering business in Bengaluru a few years ago.
