Patna:

Bihar poised to become a global hot spot for COVID-19 pandemic, RJD chief Tejashwi Yadav said on Saturday as he attacked Nitish Kumar’s government over “low” number of tests in Classes.

Mr. Yadav, Leader of the Opposition in the State Legislative Assembly, said that the government tests approximately 10,000 samples per day compared to the 30,000 to 35,000 tests required per day given the size and population of Bihar.

If the required number of tests were done, 4,000 to 5,000 cases would be detected every day, placing the state at the top of the country in terms of the spread of the coronavirus, he said.

The former chief vice minister said it is quite possible that Bihar will not only become a national hotspot, but that it is heading towards a global hotspot for the COVID-19 pandemic.

Mr. Yadav said that despite the low screening rate in the state, the number of positive cases remained over 1,000 per day.

The positivity rate in Bihar was 13% between July 11 and 17, which is the highest in the country, and this showed that the state was nowhere in terms of testing, he said. declared.

A complete lockdown imposed from July 16 to July 31 will be pointless if the test rate and hospital bed capacity are not increased, he said.

Yadav said he would urge the central team arriving in the state on Sunday to ensure transparency in the release of COVID-19 figures.

“I would ask them to ask the state government to be transparent in publishing the figures, in addition to providing special assistance from the central government, and to review the supply of oxygen concentrators and oxygen kits. test, “he said.
