Patna:
The Bihar government said on Friday it would oppose a petition filed by actor Rhea Chakraborty in the Supreme Court, challenging the jurisdiction of Patna police to file an FIR (police case) in connection with the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput and starting an investigation.
Advocate General Lalit Kishore said the state would be represented before the Supreme Court by former India’s Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi.
“Although we have not made any prayers to be included as a party to the case filed by Rhea Chakraborty, we will oppose her petition since she has challenged the jurisdiction of the state of Bihar,” said M . Kishore.
He claimed that the case fell very much within state jurisdiction as the FIR was filed on the basis of a complaint filed by Sushant Rajput’s father who resided in Patna.
There have been many instances where cases have been recorded far from the site of an incident if links to the offense were in the other location, ”the attorney general said.
He also mocked Rhea Chakraborty’s claim that all matters in this matter would be transferred to Mumbai and pointed out that the police in the Western Metropolis have not even filed an FIR.
“It was the Patna police who filed the first FIR in the case. I wonder how the Mumbai police intend to investigate a case without registering an appropriate case,” he said. .
In his complaint, actors’ father KK Singh accused Rhea Chakraborty, who was allegedly dating Sushant Rajput, of “using his sons standing in Bollywood to promote his own career, trying to drive a wedge between him and his son. . his family, feeding him mental illness drugs with the help of complicit doctors and blackmailing him by threatening to release his medical history to tarnish his reputation. “
The grieving father also alleged that “at least 15 crore rupees had been withdrawn from his son’s bank account to which Rhea Chakraborty and his family members had access” and only a week before Sushant Rajput was Rhea Chakraborty was found dead at her Bandra residence, reportedly “visited her house and stole her laptop, ATM card and other important documents.”
Referring to reports of non-cooperation from the Mumbai police to a team of four Patna police officers who are in the city to investigate the matter, the attorney general said: “If so, this is the case. It is very unfortunate. It is normal practice for law enforcement agencies to cooperate with visiting police teams from other states. “
Mr Kishore said everyone in the country was constitutionally bound to comply with an order that was passed by the Supreme Court when asked whether the government of Bihar would find it acceptable for the Supreme Court to order to dismiss. all business and move them. in Mumbai or order a CBI investigation.
“The interior minister of Maharashtra has expressed his own opinion on the matter. Let’s wait a few days. The Supreme Court will issue its order which will bring clarity,” Kishor said.
Maharashtra Interior Minister Anil Deshmukh objected to the need for a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) investigation into the death of Sushant Singh Rajput and said the police investigation of Mumbai was sufficient.
