West Bengal today reported another seven deaths from COVID-19, pushing the number of deaths from the disease in the state beyond 300, while 277 new cases of coronavirus have been recorded, according to a bulletin. published by the Ministry of Health.
Of the 302 deaths, 72 patients died due to co-morbidities and the new coronavirus was “incidental” in these cases, according to the report.
Since Thursday, two deaths have been reported each in the city and the surrounding area, while one has been recorded in the districts of 24 Parganas south, 24 Parganas north and Nadia, the bulletin said.
West Bengal currently has a total of 4,813 confirmed cases of COVID-19, of which 2,736 are active.
Kolkata represented the maximum number of new cases at 71, followed by 54 in the district of North 24 Parganas.
Meanwhile, four people – two in the gynecology department and two in the medical department – tested positive for the coronavirus at a West Bengal hospital in the city, sources said.
A dozen members of the Kolkata police force have also tested positive for the coronavirus, they added.
