Madhya Pradesh bypolls: Congressman Rahul Singh resigned from the state assembly and joined the BJP.

Bhopal:

The Congress party suffered another setback in Madhya Pradesh a week before the bypasses when a fourth MP, Rahul Singh, resigned from the state assembly.

A few hours later, Mr. Singh joined the Bharatiya Janata party in the presence of the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan in Bhopal.

Rahul Singh, a lawmaker from Damoh, tendered his resignation to interim President Rameshwar Sharma, who accepted it. “Member of Parliament for Damoh region, Rahul Singh resigned from his post which was accepted,” Shama tweeted.

“I worked with Congress for about 14 months but couldn’t work for development. All social protection programs were suspended in Damoh. Today I joined the BJP voluntarily. I’m sure that Damoh will rise up to touch great heights, ”Singh said.

Welcoming Mr. Singh to the BJP, Chief Minister Chouhan said: “After losing hope in Congress, those who want to work for development are leaving this party. Today, Rahul Singh Lodhi joined the BJP after resigning from his post. Damoh’s post of legislator. “

With this, Damoh’s seat was declared vacant. The congressional membership in the 230-member house has now dropped to 87.

In July, congressional lawmakers Narayan Patel from Mandhata, Pradyumn Singh Lodhi from Bada Malhera and Sumitra Devi Kasdekar from Nepanagar also resigned from the state assembly and later joined the ruling Bharatiya Janata party.

In March this year, 22 rebel congressmen loyal to former Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia quit the party leading to the fall of the 15-month-old Kamal Nath government in Madhya Pradesh.

Madhya Pradesh’s 28-seat by-elections, which will decide the fate of the Shivraj Singh Chouhan government, are expected to take place on November 3. The result will be announced on November 10.
