Responding to remarks on Rahul Gandhi made by former US President Barack Obama in his memoir “A Promised Land”, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut questioned Barack Obama’s knowledge of India and said he ‘a foreign politician cannot give such opinions on Indian political leaders.
“A foreign politician cannot give such opinions about India’s political leaders. The subsequent domestic political discourse on Obama’s remark on the leader of Congress is distasteful. We won’t say ‘Trump is crazy.’ What does Obama know? of this nation? ” Said Sanjay Raut.
The former US president wrote in his memoir that Rahul Gandhi was “eager to impress” but “lacked the aptitude or the passion” to master the subject, according to a review of the book published in The New York Times.
The remark sparked an argument in India, with Congress defending its leader.
“Obama and Rahul Gandhi must have met briefly, probably 8-10 years ago, when he came to India as President of the United States. Evaluating someone in a few meetings is difficult. Rahul Gandhi’s personality has changed since, he has gained a lot of experience, ”said Congress leader Tariq Anwar.
The Shiv Sena, Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party are part of a coalition government in Maharashtra. The alliance, called Maha Vikas Aghadi, recently completed a year in office. Sanjay Raut said the government led by Uddhav Thackeray will make the state stronger in the next four years.
“Last year, around the same time, we were about to form the government of Maharashtra. At the time, no one imagined that a leader of Shiv Sena would become the chief minister here. Over the past year, we have faced challenges in terms of climate adversity. and the COVID-19 pandemic. We have shown patience and acted with caution, ”said Mr. Raut.
“Over the next four years, our goal is to create a credible bond with the 11 million citizens of Maharashtra. I advise the state opposition parties to work for the welfare of the public and help us build a strong state in the country. years to come, ”said the leader of Shiv Sena.
