Prime Minister Scott Morrison will hold a virtual summit with his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi on Thursday during which the two leaders will discuss bilateral relations and their responses to the coronavirus pandemic, media reports said.
Speaking to reporters on Sunday, Morrison said he is looking forward to discussing countries’ responses to the COVID-19 pandemic and will meet with Prime Minister Modi in a virtual meeting Thursday on various other issues, according to the report.
“Prime Minister Modi and I will also discuss new opportunities in the areas of defense, trade, maritime safety and security, science and technology and education,” said Morrison. .
“As like-minded democracies and natural strategic partners, Australia and India fully agree that our strong bilateral relations are the key to a more open, prosperous and inclusive Indo-Pacific”, did he declare.
Morrison, who was scheduled to travel to India in January of this year, had to cancel his trip following the bush fire crisis in southeast Australia.
On Sunday, Mr. Morrison shared his photo with a plate of samosas and mango chutney on Twitter and wrote: ” Sunday ScoMosas with mango chutney, all made from scratch – including chutney! Too bad my meeting with Narendra Modi this week is via video link. They are vegetarians, I would have liked to share with him. “
Prime Minister Modi responded by saying that the samosas looked “delicious”, reported the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC) News.
