The bullet-riddled cacass of an adult female rhino whose horn was removed by poachers was found inside Kaziranga National Park, a forestry official said on Saturday.

The carcass was spotted by patrol personnel in the Meteka beel area under the Gabrai anti-poaching camp on Friday, he said.

Six empty cartridges were also recovered from the area, the official said.

Patrol personnel tracked down the poachers’ footprints and found the carcass. he said.

One person has been detained in this regard by the Biswanath Wildlife Division and further investigation is underway, the official added.
