Lockdown in Delhi: Arvind Kejriwal released the clarification after a multi-stakeholder meeting convened by Amit Shah.

New Delhi:

There are “no plans” for another foreclosure in Delhi, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted today, dismissing speculation spurred by an increase in coronavirus cases in the capital. Kejriwal presented the clarification shortly after an all-party meeting convened by Interior Minister Amit Shah to discuss the virus strategy for Delhi and its neighboring regions.

“A lot of people are wondering if another foreclosure in Delhi is planned. There are no such plans,” Arvind Kejriwal tweeted.

Delhi has more than 41,000 cases of COVID-19 and is the third most affected country in the country. There have been over 1,300 deaths in the city.

Shops, market complexes and offices reopened in Delhi on June 8 and public movements have been allowed with restrictions as part of the national plan to gradually end solitary confinement since late March to slow the spread of the virus .

However, following an outbreak of virus in Delhi, as well as complaints about a severe shortage of hospital beds, calls were made last week on social media to “restock Delhi”. There was also speculation in a media section that Delhi would soon revert to a strict lockdown. The situation in Delhi was “horrible, horrible and pathetic,” the Supreme Court said last week, wrestling the capital, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Bengal from the management of the epidemic.

At the multi-stakeholder meeting this morning, Amit Shah and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi assured that there would be coronavirus tests for everyone in Delhi.

Yesterday the chief minister held what he called an “extremely productive meeting” with the Union’s interior minister on the Delhi virus crisis. After the meeting, Amit Shah tweeted that the tests would be tripled and that the buses would be set aside to cover the shortage of hospital beds.

Shah said the center will also provide the necessary resources, including random test kits, oxygen cylinders, ventilators and pulse oximeters to help tackle the epidemic.
