The process of appointing a new Chief Information Commissioner (CIC) and Information Commissioners (CI) in the Central Information Commission is underway, the Union Minister said on Tuesday , Jitendra Singh.
In a written response to Rajya Sabha, he said the CIC ended its mandate on August 26.
“The process of appointing new CICs and ICs is ongoing,” said Mr. Singh, Minister of State for Personnel.
The Central Information Commission can have one CIC and ten ICs.
Mr Singh said that a high-level search committee was following a method of obtaining relevant information about various candidates while reviewing applications and selecting candidates for the post of Chief Information Commissioner and Commissioners. to information.
In response to a separate question, the minister said the Central Information Commission was functional even after the lockdown declaration in March 2020.
“When it comes to state information commissions, each of the state governments has responded to the call appropriately,” he said.
As for the Central Information Commission, a total of 4,491 online requests have been processed from March 2020 to September 17, 2020, Singh said.
