Amitabh Bachchan, revealed on Monday that he had shot his “first drunk scene” for the 1975 film Mili. Mr. Bachchan shared the spotlight with wife Jaya in the film, which still reigns in the hearts of many for its evergreen songs and the chemistry of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan. In his latest tweet, Big B shared illustrations from the movie poster starring him and his wife and wrote that he had shot his “first drunk scene” in Mili, long before his drunken scenes from his blockbusters such as Amar Akbar Anthony, Hum, Satte Pe Satta and Shakti has become iconic and popular among its fans. He wrote: “Mili… the film … Jaya and I … a work of such beauty … my first drunk scene in the film, long before the mirror scene of Amar Akbar Anthony, Satte Pe Satta, Hum or Shakti. “

Mili, directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and written by Bimal Dutta and Mohini N Sippy, was among The first films of Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan after their marriage in 1973. In the film, Jaya plays the role of a cheerful and lively girl named Mili, who suffers from an incurable disease. However, this does not affect his zest for life. Amitabh Bachchan plays his neighbor Shekhar, a depressed man who prefers to drown his pains in alcohol. The ways Mili lives her life make Shekhar fall in love with her, but when he learns of his illness, he tries to end his relationship with her to avoid grief. However, he married her later and took her to Switzerland for treatment.
The album of Mili has several iconic songs such as Aaye Tum Yaad Mujhe, sung by Kishore Kumar and Maine Kaha Phoolon Se, sung by Lata Mangeshkar. The songs for the film were composed by renowned music director SD Burman in association with his son, veteran music composer RD Burman. Mili remains SD Burman’s latest project. Another film track – Badi Sooni Sooni Hai – emerged as a super hit in the 70s and 80s.
Amitabh and Jaya Bachchan starred in several films such as Zanjeer, Abhimaan, Chupke Chupke, Sholay, Silsila, Guddi, Bawarchi, Ek Nazar, Kora Kagaz, Bansi Birju, Piya Ka Ghar and Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, to name a few.
