New Delhi:

As is the ritual with Kaun Banega Crorepati, Amitabh Bachchan closed the week with an episode dedicated to a ‘Karamveer“. On Friday, he hosted Dr. Sunil Shroff, founder of Mohan Foundation, an organization that champions the cause of organ donation. Actor Riteish Deshmukh has joined the real-life hero, who, along with his wife Genelia, has pledged to be organ donors. Amitabh Bachchan began by saying that having Dr. Sunil Shroff as a guest on the show was a “great honor” for him. Dr. Sunil Shroff’s NGO has helped up to 11,609 lives through his NGO, which has been awarded by the Indian government as the Most Performing NGO. The episode also aired heartbreaking clips of organ recipients, who shared their transplant experiences, which turned out to be life-changing experiences. Dr Sunil Shroff also shared valuable information on the “miraculous” science of organ transplantation.

Riteish Deshmukh also spoke about the moment he lost his father, politician Vilasrao Deshmukh. Riteish said his father needed a liver transplant and the actor himself decided to be the donor, which ultimately didn’t work out due to medical complications. Riteish tore the series apart when a family shared the story of losing their young son. Riteish Deshmukh and Dr Sunil Shroff won Rs 25 lakh for the NGO Mohan Foundation.

Hours before the episode aired on Sony TV, Big B’s son Abhishek Bachchan tweeted, “An incredibly moving episode.”

Ahead of the ‘Karamveer‘segment of the show, Mr. Bachchan had continued the game with rolling contestant Mrinalini Dubey, who became the first contestant to earn Rs 25 lakh in this season of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
