Alapan Bandopadhyay was appointed West Bengal’s new chief secretary on Monday.

Alapan Bandopadhyay, who is currently Home Secretary, will join his new assignment on October 1, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said.

He will reprise the new role of Rajiva Sinha who will retire on September 30.

Alapan Bandopadhyay is a 1987 IAS officer, member of West Bengal.

HK Dwivedi, who is currently the state finance secretary, will take over as interior minister, the chief minister said.

Manoj Pant will be the new finance secretary. He is currently the Principal Secretary of the Department of Land and Land Reforms and Refugee Assistance and Rehabilitation.

Rajiva Sinha has been appointed president of the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation, Mamata Banerjee announced.

He was appointed to the post for a period of three years, she said.
