Lucknow:

Samajwadi Party leader Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP on Tuesday for hosting virtual rallies for the upcoming elections in Bihar and West Bengal and said billions of dollars were spent on campaigning.

The former chief minister of Uttar Pradesh said, “As in Bihar, billions were spent in West Bengal with an expensive virtual gathering today. In fact, setting a world record for lies.”

Interior Minister Amit Shah addressed a virtual rally on Tuesday called the Jan Samvad Rally of West Bengal. He has made similar virtual gatherings for Odisha and Bihar in the past two days.

Speaking at a virtual gathering of West Bengal Jan Samvad, he said that West Bengal remains the only state where political violence has spread despite the strengthening of democracy in the country.
