“She was an absolute rider during the making of the film,” wrote Abhishek Bachchan for his wife, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, with whom he starred in Mani Ratnam’s 2010 film Raavan. Adding a post to his series “Road To 2020” on Instagram, Abhishek recalled the shooting Raavan with Aishwarya and shared how his “dedication and strength to accomplish the complexities of his role” in the film left him in awe. In Raavan, who marked the 8th film of Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan together, the actress played the role of a policewoman’s wife while Abhishek played the role of a bandit.
Praising his wife for having executed each scene of the film twice – one for the Hindi version and the other for the Tamil version – with his “marked smile”, the actor wrote: “My 8th film with the missus .. The dedication, and sheer strength it took to interpret the intricacies of her role is just impressive. And she did it all with her trademark smile. Thinking that she had to play every scene (whatever the difficulty emotional and physical) confuses me. And to do it twice each time – as we were shooting the Hindi and Tamil versions simultaneously. A huge salute! “
Abhishek, Aishwarya and Mani Ratnam collaborate for the first time for the 2007 film Guru. The actress will again work with the renowned director in her next film, in which she would have been seen in a double role.
Other than Raavan and Guru, Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have acted in films such as Kuch Naa Kaho, Umrao Jaan, Dhoom 2, Dhaai Akshar Prem Ke, Sarkar Raj and Bunty Aur Babli.
Abhishek Bachchan also revealed in his article that Raavan, his third film with Mani Ratnam after Guru and Yuva, was his “most difficult film, physically and emotionally”. He wrote: “Raavan has been the most physically and emotionally difficult film for me in my career. It’s a wonder how the team managed to make it happen. Raavan also played the southern actor Vikram Kennedy. Sharing his experience working with the star, Abhishek, who called himself a big fan of Vikram, wrote: “Raavan also gave me the opportunity to work with Vikram Kennedy. I was a big fan of him (I had to watch Dhool – his Tamil film more than 17 times). He has always been so loving to me and I learned so much from watching him. A great actor! Abhishek Bachchan’s film Khelein Hum Je Jaan Sey also released in 2010. He co-starred with Deepika Padukone and Sikandar Kher in the film, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker.
