Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was released from Nanavati Hospital in Mumbai, where she was being treated for COVID-19, after a 10-day stay. Her husband Abhishek said in a tweet that Aishwarya and their eight-year-old daughter tested negative and were sent home; he and his father Amitabh Bachchan were still in the hospital. “Thank you all for your continued prayers and good wishes. Forever in debt. Aishwarya and Aaradhya luckily tested negative and were released from the hospital. They will now be home. My father and I remain in the hospital under the care of the personal doctor, ”Abhishek Bachchan tweeted.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, 46, tested positive a day after her husband Abhishek and stepfather Amitabh Bachchan; she was isolated at Bachchan Residence for about a week and then transferred to hospital on July 17. Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan had already been taken to hospital on July 11. Jaya Bachchan has tested negative for the virus.

A day after Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was transferred to hospital, sources told PTI News Agency that she had a cough but was getting better. The Bachchans “responded well to treatment”, said the hospital source.

July 12 Abhishek Bachchan confirmed in a tweet that his wife and eight-year-old daughter had both tested positive for the coronavirus. His announcement ended a brief period of confusion after Maharashtra’s Health Minister Rajesh Tope posted and then deleted a tweet revealing Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s COVID-19 diagnosis. Amitabh Bachchan, 77, announced on July 11 that he had tested positive for the virus and was in hospital – shortly thereafter, Abhishek Bachchan announced shortly after that he had also tested positive and was also found in the same hospital.

Jalsa, the family home in Mumbai, was cordoned off by the Brihanmumbai Corporation or BMC, as were the other three bungalows owned by the Bachchans. 30 property staff were being tested for COVID-19. Jalsa was unsealed on July 26.

The coronavirus has hit several households in Bollywood, with staff members working for Aamir Khan, Karan Johar and Boney Kapoor testing positive. Rekha’s bungalow was sealed after her security staff caught the virus. Several television actors have also tested positive.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, a former Miss World, is the star of films such as Taal, Jodhaa Akbar, Devdas, Chokher Bali, Kandukondain Kandukondain and Dhoom 2. Her international film credits include The Pink Panther 2, Bride And Prejudice and Provoked. Aishwarya and Abhishek have acted in several films together, including Umrao Jaan, on sets they have fallen in love with. They got married soon after the release of their film Guru in 2007.

Aishwarya returned to the theater after an extended maternity leave with the release of Jazbaa in 2015, having followed her with Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Sarbjit and Fanney Khan from 2018.
