The leaders of Congress attacked the vice president of Rajya Sabha for his conduct.

New Delhi:

On Sunday, Congress called into question the actions of Vice President Rajya Sabha, accusing him of colluding with the ruling BJP and denying the basic rights of members for a split vote, after two drafts of Controversial farm laws were approved by parliament amid an unprecedented outcry.

In a nagging attack on Rajya Sabha’s Vice President Harivansh Singh after Sunday’s heated debates, Congress said it rushed through the bills without letting the opposition have a say and not allow them to have a tie for the proposed amendments.

About 47 members of the opposition parties introduced a motion of no confidence against Mr Singh, which pushed the two bills through a voice vote even as some lawmakers raised slogans, tore up documents and attempted to grab the microphone from the speaker to Rajya Sabha.

“Without taking the sense of home, in a second the vice president voted this bill. We haven’t seen such a practice from any home so far. We haven’t understood such a move. from the vice president … a member’s basic right has been restricted, ”Congressman Rajya Sabha, KC Venugopal, said at a press briefing on Sunday evening.

“Surprisingly, we have seen BJP members go to the vice president and they whisper with the vice president. Not the parliamentary minister. But apart from him, BJP leader Bhupendra Yadav also whispered in the vice president’s ears. -President. What conspiracy has been made? ”he said.

“This democratic parliamentary procedure is completely unacceptable. In parliamentary democracy, the government has the way, we agree. But the opposition has the say. You do not hear the voice of the opposition,” Mr. Venugopal added.

A motion of no confidence against the vice-president is a first in Parliament and the convention is that Mr. Singh is not to preside over house sessions until the matter is resolved. Opposition parties also allege that he “filled the house with security personnel deliberately designed to outnumber and outnumber members of the opposition.”

Mr. Venugopal also condemned the government. “I attended the press conference of the Honorable Rajnath Singh and five of the ministers. They fully justify the actions and attitudes of the vice president. It was also very unfortunate,” he said.

“The Treasury Bank came today with a prefix spirit. They are not ready to listen to the agony of the farmer. They are not ready to listen to the voice of the opposition. They are not prepared to have a division in the Farmers Bill too. After that quite naturally the members got angry, ”added the head of Congress.

The new farm bills have faced strong protests from the opposition and farmers, especially in northern India, who say they will hurt their income. The government maintains, however, that it will make it easier for farmers to sell their produce directly to large buyers.
