Speaking to farmers, he said: “Whenever swarms of locusts attack, villagers must be vigilant. Attacks of locusts can be prevented by bursting firecrackers, smoke from burning tires or playing drums. “

Earlier, Maharashtra’s Minister of Agriculture, Dada Bhuse, said about 50% of the locust swarms had been killed in the state by the Department of Agriculture.

“About 50% of locust swarms have been killed in Maharashtra by the Ministry of Agriculture. Fire engines are used to spray insecticides. We provide free chemicals / insecticides to farmers in the affected areas”, said Mr. Bhuse.

Swarms of Pakistani locusts have entered Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh, threatening serious damage to cotton crops and standing vegetables, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Environment, Forests and Climate Change, adding that Rajasthan is the most affected state.

The Desert Locust is a species of Desert Locust, a swarming short horned grasshopper. They are known to devour everything in their path, posing an unprecedented threat to the food supply and livelihoods of millions of people.
