Mumbai:

Actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s friend Rhea Chakraborty, also an actor, recorded his statement today with the Mumbai police, who are investigating his death.

Ten people, including friends, family members and aides of Sushant Singh Rajput, have so far made their statements.

The 34-year-old star committed suicide on Sunday in his Bandra apartment in Mumbai. The Maharashtra government has ordered an investigation into allegations of professional rivalry with its reported clinical depression.

One of his close friends, Mukesh Chhabra, told police yesterday that he was not aware of any professional rivalry.

Mr. Chhabra, who worked with him in a film, described him as an “intelligent and very private actor”.

Police sources say that everyone closely associated with Sushant Singh Rajput in his career will be interviewed.

The actor’s broken-hearted father told police that he did not know the reason for his depression.

The statements of his cook, caretaker and managers were also recorded.

Maharashtra’s interior minister Anil Deshmukh said on Twitter that the police will be investigating the cause of his depression. “While the post mortem report indicates that the actor committed suicide while hanging himself, there are reports in the media according to which he would have suffered from clinical depression because of professional rivalries. The police of Mumbai will also probe this angle, “he tweeted.

Sushant Singh Rajput debuted in the 2013 film “Kai Po Che” and went on to make several films, including “PK”, “Kedarnath”, “Sonchiriya” and “Chhichhore” – one of his latest films which was widely appreciated.

His death led to a deluge of tributes and complaints on social media involving the Hindi film industry, which fought against allegations of patronage and cliques.

Among the messages which highlighted the troubles of the actor, there was that of the famous scenario writer Shekhar Kapur. “I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people who let you down so badly that you would cry on my shoulder. I wish I was around the past 6 months. I wish you would have contacted. What happened to you is their Karma. Not yours, “he tweeted.
