Los Angeles:

American actress Kelly Preston, who has appeared in blockbuster movies Jerry Maguire and twins, died of breast cancer, said her husband, actor John Travolta, said on Sunday.

She was 57 years old.

“It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly lost her two-year battle against breast cancer,” said Hollywood star Travolta on Instagram.

“She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many people.”

A family representative told People Kelly Preston who died Sunday morning.

“By choosing to keep her fight private, she had been undergoing medical treatment for some time, with the support of her family and closest friends,” said the people’s representative.

Born October 13, 1962 in Hawaii, Preston studied theater and drama at the University of Southern California.

She became famous for her role in the 1988 hit comedy twins, also with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito, and has appeared in dozens of movies and TV shows over the course of a decade-long career.

She played the main character’s ex-fiancée in the 1996 hit romantic comedy Jerry Maguire, who also featured Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger.

Travolta and Preston married in 1991 and had three children together. Their eldest son died in 2009 at the age of 16.
