Shivraj Singh Chouhan announced the expansion of the firm last week.

Bhopal:

Shivraj Singh Chouhan cabinet in Madhya Pradesh – which has operated with only five members so far – will soon have 25 new members, BJP sources said today. On Sunday, Mr. Chouhan went to Delhi to discuss the matter with the central leadership of the party.

Last week, the chief minister announced the expansion of the cabinet. Sources said the COVID-19 crisis and the June 19 Rajya Sabha election delayed the expansion of the cabinet.

Among the new ministers, fifteen will come from the BJP, the sources said. The rest are believed to be former members of Congress, who changed sides with Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia in March, overthrowing the Congress government led by Kamal Nath.

Twenty-three MPs had changed sides with Jyotiraditya Scindia, most of them considered to be close to him. Mr. Scindia was hosted in Rajya Sabha by the BJP earlier this month.

Chouhan was sworn in in March, a few days before Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the country’s closure for the coronavirus epidemic.

On April 21, five ministers were sworn in.

Two of the five ministers were former members of Congress. Tulsi Silawat and Govind Singh Rajput were members of Kamal Nath, Narottam Mishra, Kamal Patel and Meena Singh, who were also sworn in, were members of the BJP.

Uttar Pradesh governor Anandiben Patel’s visit to Madhya Pradesh to pay additional charges for Bhopal on Monday has been postponed, Press Trust of India news agency said, citing sources.
