I will continue to serve the people until my members are functioning, said Dr Ramchandra Danekar

Chandrapur:

While the COVID-19 phase has brought hardship for many, health facilities in villages have been severely affected, but even during this crisis, an 87-year-old doctor from Chandrapur has continued to brave the pandemic to reach his patients in bike and provide them with care.

Homeopathic physician Dr Ramchandra Danekar cycled 10 to 15 kilometers daily to provide door-to-door medical care to the poor for nearly 60 years.

“For 60 years, I have visited villagers almost daily. Due to the fear of COVID-19, doctors are afraid to treat patients, but I am not so afraid. Nowadays young doctors only want money, they don’t want to serve the poor, ”Dr Danekar told ANI.

He said that in his heyday he covered many villages in one day and even stayed outside for a day, but due to growing age he now returns home at night.

“I will continue to serve people until my members are functioning,” added an enthusiastic Dr Danekar.

Villagers in the area said Dr Danekar was always available for them around the clock on a single call and continued to work for them even during the pandemic phase.

“He is like a God to us, he is the only doctor to reach us anytime on one call. He continued to serve us even during the pandemic phase when others refused,” said a villager while d Others agreed with him, adding that his services have helped many people in the area.
